I knew Lu for much of my life. We worked together for many years at the Health Department. I will never forgot that on my very first day working there, she picked me up and drove me to work. She was a wonderful friend and one of my many mentors. She was such a kind person, extending herself to her patients, co-workers, friends, church members and others in very quiet, thoughtful ways.
